JPMorgan has begun providing services to cryptocurrency exchanges. Coinbase and Gemini became the first clients of the bank.
According to The Wall Street Journal, citing “sources familiar with the situation,” Coinbase and Gemini became the bank’s first customers working in the cryptographic industry. The companies were approved to open accounts with JPMorgan last month. Processing of transactions and transactions started in May.
JPMorgan provides cash management services to the stock exchanges, as well as processes deposits and withdrawals for U.S. customers of cryptocurrency trading platforms. Interbank transfers pass through the Automated Clearing House (ACH).
Many banks refuse to provide their services to cryptocurrency companies. Thus, last August, Barclays Bank stopped providing services to Coinbase.
