The American aerospace company Boeing Co. (BA.N) said on Tuesday that it failed to sell a single commercial airplane this year with clients cancelling another 108 orders for its grounded 737 MAX planes. It marked the second month this year in which Boeing received zero orders making it the worst year for the company since 1962.
Boeing Co.’s order book slipped below 5,000 units for the first time in seven years as a sharp drop in air travel decreased the demand for new jetliners.
“Something will happen when September comes around. Traffic levels will not be back to 100%, they won’t even be back to 25(%). Maybe by the end of the year we approach 50(%),” Boeing’s Chief Executive Officer David Calhoun said on NBC’s “Today” show.
Boeing said on Tuesday that it delivered just six airliners in April, bringing its 2020 total to 56 jets. Boeing’s sales were down by 67% as it faces the biggest crisis in its history.
