Tesla to help CureVac in molecule printer production to develop a potential COVID – 19 vaccine

Tesla Inc will be manufacturing mobile molecule printers in an attempt to aid Germany’s biotech firm CureVac in developing a potential COVID-19 vaccine, according to a tweet by the electric-car maker’s CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday.

CureVac has been developing automated, portable mRNA production units called printers. The printers are designed to be easily deployed to remote locations where it can produce its vaccine candidate and other mRNA-based therapies depending on what was fed into the machine.

The “microfactories”, as Musk calls them, would be built at Tesla Grohmann Automation in Germany, according to a Twitter thread late on Wednesday night.

However, Musk had not elaborated on his plans. Spokespeople for Tesla and CureVac were also not immediately available to comment.
